4 DAYS BEFORE YOUR TAN
- beauty therapists recommend waxing at least 4 days prior to tanning to give pores time to close
24 HOURS BEFORE YOUR TAN
- shave (to give pores time to close)
- exfoliate using an exfoliating flannel or sponge
- moisturise generously
ON DAY OF YOUR TAN
- do NOT moisturise
- do NOT wear make up, deodorant or perfume (if you do, just remove at least 1 or 2 hours prior to tanning to give pores time to close)
- for tanning - wear a dark coloured thong, bikini or bra and pants (disposable thongs available free of charge)
HOW YOUR TAN IS CREATED
a spray gun is used to apply an exact combination of air and tanning lotion directly onto your skin- the treatment will take only 5-10 minutes to apply
- there is little overspray produced during the application, however, our therapists do carry a pop-up cubicle which will contain any overspray and can be easily set up and folded away within seconds and without inconvenience
- your tan will take approximately 6-10 hours to develop and will continue to develop until you have a shower or bath for a period of up to 24 hours when it will reach its full colour strength
FOR AT LEAST 6 HOURS FOLLOWING YOUR TAN
- wear loose fitting clothing
- avoid wearing wool, nylon or silk
- avoid bathing, showering, swimming and vigorous exercise
- avoid chlorine or salt water
AT LEAST 6 HOURS AFTER YOUR TAN
- take a shower
- small amounts of colour may be washed from your skin during showering, this is just the colour guide and not your tan!
- moisturise
TO MAINTAIN YOUR TAN
with regular moisturising and general care, your tan should last between 4 and 14 days, but this does obviously depend upon ones skin type, skin colour and the extent of your normal bathing routines- the use of Karma body wash is highly recommended as is the daily use of Karma finishing moisturiser
- a gentle refreshing Karma body mist has also been developed to work with your sunless tan
- a top up application can be easily applied weekly by your sunkiss fairy therapist or by using Karma mineral glow or Karma simply spray
- as all skins react differently to the treatment we do recommend you have 2 initial treatments within a week of each other to reach your desired colour and prolong the life of your sunless tan
CONTRA INDICATIONS
- a spray tan must NOT be applied : -
if there is have broken skin;
you suffer from a nut allergy;
you are in the first trimester (12 weeks) of pregnancy; or
you have previously had an adverse reaction to self-tanning creams, foams, solutions, etc.
- special care must be taken if your answer is 'yes' to any of the following questions and you should consult your therapist at the outset: -
1) do you suffer from eczema?
2) do you suffer from psoriasis?
3) do you suffer from asthma?
4) do you suffer from nut allergy?
5) do you have any open cuts or abrasions?
6) is it likely that you could be pregnant and during the first trimester (12 weeks)?
7) have you never used a DHA based tanning agent before (nb - most self-tanning solutions, creams, etc will contain DHA)?
8) have you ever had an adverse reaction to self-tanning creams, foams, solutions, etc?
- some medications, HRT & hormone level fluctuations might affect the outcome of the tan - you should therefore consult your Doctor before tanning
- chlorine and salt water may dry your skin and cause your sunless tan to fade faster
PREGNANCY
due to the hormone imbalances during pregnancy and some major changes the body undergoes during the first trimester, spray tans might become patchy or cause an uneven result and affect the outcome of the tan. We therefore avoid tanning during the first trimester of pregnancy.
However, after 12 weeks, once hormones have settled down, there should be no reason why pregnant mums cannot have a spray tan. It is safe to tan in the second and third trimesters but there is a small risk of uneven pigmentation in the skin which might result in an uneven tan.
As the ingredients in Tantrick solution are fresh and natural it will ensure mums-to-be are feeling revitalized with their radiant glow.
